Hey Savages, Kim here to share some more of my layouts made with this months kit Wistful Blues. I had such a great time creating with this kit.

First up is a layout featuring moi (one of my favorite scrapping subjects). I, like some of my other DT members, have found the pinks in this kit. Pink is my signature color, I just love scrapping with it.

I did some distressing to the pattern paper, and some punching around the edges of the grey card stock. I used several pieces of scraps for layering around my photo. I used some panpastels and the mist to highlight behind my layers and clusters. I am loving the panpastels.

I used elements from the main kit, as well as the flower and embellishment add ons. The blue mist came from the mixed media add on. I threw in the panpastels, leaves and chipboard from my stash.

For my next layout, I went with the blues and incorporated some green. I used a photo of dh and myself (another of my favorite scrappy subjects).

I added a few layers behind my photo. I used the great doily that I got a Swirly camp, as a mat to my photo.

Again, I distressed the edges of the pattern paper and used some card stock beneath it. I did a bit of masking with some crackle embossing paste. Oops, I got a little crazy with the flowers and covered up part of the sentiment, lol.

See the cracks, I love the texture it created. I went over it lightly with some green chalk ink to highlight it.

I used the mixed media add on to color my chipboard. There is a piece poking it's head out at the bottom. Once colored, I stamped on it with a script stamp from my stash. Again, I used some panpastels to highlight around my photo and cluster.

Thanks for taking a peek at my final projects with the Wistful Blues kit. Don't forget to stop by the Boutique and pick up your Wistful Blues kit, if they haven't sold out. Or better yet, never miss another kit by subscribing to the monthly kits

Hello everyone! Debbie with you today to share my second reveal with the August kit "Wistful Blues".

This kit is beautiful and if you love scrapping with blue you will love this kit!  One of my favorite embellishments with this kit is the Prima resin butterflies, bees and dragonflies! They can be altered with your favorite medium.  Here I used some Turquoise Inka Gold from my stash.  It really made these cute embellies pop!

I also tried Rae's Embossed Chipboard with Liquid Pearls Technique!  Be sure to check it out......you will love playing with this technique!
The chipboard I used is from my stash but the August kit comes with a beautiful piece of chipboard that you can try this technique on.

The flower kit add on is another one of my favorites this month....it's not only loaded with rustic canvas flowers, blue jean denim colored flowers, it comes with pink flowers too!  Such a great contrast in colors as you can see on my layout.  I used the Cardstock add -on for my photo matting and coordinated my embellishments with the cardstock.

Thanks for stopping by the Swirlydoos blog today!  Hope you have been enjoying all the beautiful inspiration from the Wistful Blues Kit this month!!

Hi everyone! Angelica here sharing my second reveal projects using the August Kit, Wistful Blues.

This is an altered tray I made using the wood packaging the Prima Resins come in. I love that Prima does that because these trays are so fun to alter! I left the tray bare and just used some of the Inklingz that came in the main kit to color the edges a bit. Once that was dry I went to town embellishing the four nooks. Everything came from the kits except the bird, nest and butterflies. The little eggs  I made with paper clay.

As you may know, we have one of the best card makers around! Paulien has amazing and easy to follow tutorials on the cards she makes! For this card I used one of her tutorials that you can find HERE. This is the first round card that I've ever made. I really love the way it came out!

 Thanks for taking a peek!

While looking thru the galley this weekend I came across this stunning mixed media layout, that I couldn't stop looking at. What a gorgeous layout Ginny created. She states she is new to doing mixed media. I think she is a natural. All the beautiful misting and masking highlighting the wonderful picture of Ginny. Her distressing and placement of embellishments draw you right in. Her colors are so vibrant, you can't help but notice this layout.

Amazing job Ginny!!

Just sitting in the sun,
I took in all the beauty,
Observed what God had done.

The other day in the forums we were discussing uses for plastic boxes that come from the grocery store with lettuce and such in them.  I've been saving these lettuce boxes for a while now with the plan to alter them and that conversation prompted me to get with it!

This first box I've altered using our August Kit of the Month, Wistful Blues.   Below is a step by step video tutorial on how I altered this box.  Enjoy!

Here's another box I altered using Marion Smith's Garment District collection.

And one more, this one done with Graphic 45's By the Sea Collection.

I want to see what you can do with your plastic boxes.  It really doesn't take long to do these and they are really pretty and unique ways to box your gifts.

Maggi here to share some more creations I did with Wistful Blues, the Swirlydoos August kit of the month.  It is such a delightful collection of paper designs from Riddersholm, Bo Bunny, and Kaisercraft and I'll bet that it gives your creativity a jump start!

I love this photo of my Dad when he was a teenager riding his bicycle in the tobacco field.  I cut a piece of Blue Fern chipboard from their Tangier Panel and embossed it with aged embossing powder and placed that over some rough cut burlap.  The splats were made with Lindy's capped with an old baldy cap.

Random punching around the edges completes the masculine and aged look.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Kaisercraft Toffee
Patterned paper: Bo Bunny Somewhere in Time collection - Passage 16401415, Kaisercraft Key to My Heart collection - Flattered
Chipboard: Blue Fern Studios Tangier Panel
Embossing powder: Stampendous aged marine blue embossing enamel
Flowers: Prima Jute Jovial
Ink: Mix'd Media Inx Patina, Peridot,
Mist: Lindy's Cattail Copper Brown
Masks: TCW Well Rounded
Masking paste: 13 Arts gesso; Prima
Other: Papermania Chronology label plate. burlap

I love Steampunk and had fun "punking" up this layout.

I randomly applied copper embossing powder to the flower to give it some "pizazz"!  The corner chippy is ScrapFx and is topped with a Websters cameo.  The bottlecap came in the Embellishment addon.

I painted the wings of this Dusty Attic chippy with Inklingz powder blue (in the main kit) and then embossed the body with Stampedous aged gold.   The metal flower also has aged gold embossing powder on it.

The flower is from the flower add on and I gave it a quick spritz with Lindy's to color it.  The bottlecap and quote inside it are from the embellishment add on.

Supplies:Patterned paper: Tailgate Marked - Airborne, Kaisercraft Key to My Heart - Flattered, Bo Bunny Somewhere in Time Chrononaut
Chipboard: Dusty Attic Divine Divas DA0657, ScrapFx Steampunk corner
Embossing powder: Stampendous aged gold, aged copper
Diecuts and punches: Memory Box Large Ringlets; Spellbinders Decorative Labels Eight
Flowers: Prima Jute Jovial
Metals - flowers, key - from eBay; Prima Finnabair Vintage Trinkets Plated Label
Mist: Lindy's Grab a Guy Gold
Masks: Prima Static
Masking paste: Viva Ferro Altgold
Paint: Shimmerz Inklingz - Powder Blue, Miner Miner 49er
Other: Bottlecap Inc Ball Chain Necklace, bottlecap, Webster's Cameo

We had a discussion on the forums the other day about the plastic boxes  in which produce is often packaged.  That gave me the idea to make a gift box from a plastic lettuce box.  Here's one that I did using papers, Kaisercraft paper blooms and the resin butterfly from the kit.  The large flower is handmade using cardstock from the kit and the greenery and bow is from my stash.  Tomorrow on the Swirlydoos blog I will have a start to finish video on altering this box.  I hope you have time to check it out!

I am so grateful for my time as a Swirlydoos Design Team member. It's been my dream since joining Swirlydoos 3 years ago as my first experience with a kit club. It changed the course of my scrappy "career".  I learned how to challenge myself and learn new techniques. I learned to have faith in my scrapping enough to try out for publications and other DTs.
Most of all,I met some of my dearest friends and for that,I am truly grateful.
I will still be around, you can't get rid of me :) but my family needs some extra attention at this stage in my life and we all know, family comes first.

Before I sail off into the sunset,I have one more page to share with you using the serene August kit,"Wistful Blues." The kit has a pink side to it as well:

The pic is my beautiful ballerina niece with impossibly long legs. I added 2 older Prima flowers,a Leaky Shed Studio chippies and doilies to the kit contents.

Look at the beautiful pink beads Krissy found for us! I chose to cluster mine and tuck into the Petaloo paper blooms.

As usual, I love to layer! I added paper doilies and the Prima packaging for more depth.

I hope you will enjoy this kit as much as I did and I can't wait to see what you create!
